“Imagining Burma,” the Photo exhibition of the photographer Moe Min (RAYS), will be held from April 22, 2009 to May 17, 2009 at the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena, California.

Moe Min (Rays) is one of the Burmese best photographers and there is nothing quite like his incredible photos, and he captures his subjects brilliantly. Through images of Buddhist rituals—whether solitary worships or joyous festivals—the photographer explores the lives of monks and lay practitioners in Myanmar (previously known as Burma) today.

With all the different cultures, people and landscapes of his country, he likes to continue shooting, exhibiting, and publishing these works for others to see the beauty of his country, Myanmar.

Moe Min first picked up a camera at the age of 16.  While assisting his brother on a movie filming set, he discovered his interest in fascinating photography.  It is an interest that has continued to grow for over 30 years.

Working professionally as a commercial photographer in Yangon, Moe Min’s true passion lies in travel photography.  Participating in many group exhibitions over the years, his first solo show was held in 2002.  Since then he has continued to build his collection of insightful images, capturing the diverse beauty and color of his nation.

Pacific Asia Museum is one of only four institutions in the United States dedicated exclusively to the arts and culture of Asia and the Pacific Islands. The museum’s mission is to further cultural awareness and understanding through the arts.

In August 2008, the Network of Myanmar American Association (NetMAA) held Moe Min’s first solo photo exhibition in the United States at the Imaging Asian Center in Los Angeles, California.  Entitled “In Buddha’s Land,” the show featured about forty five images of the artist’s work captured over the last eight years. Featuring stunning landscapes and ancient temples, he documented Myanmar’s long relationship with the Buddhist faith.  Moe Min also released a book and a series of postcards to coincide with his exhibitions.

So please come and enjoy the captivating “Imagining Burma” Photo Exhibition.
